About
Applications (or end point users) that want to benefit from SMHI Open Data Hydrography can use this service to retrieve data. The service is constructed as a REST API for easy access. The Entry point is located at https://opendata-download-hydrography.smhi.se/api. From here a client can traverse down by following links through the levels until a specific data resource is available. The structure is made up by the following levels. Apart from links to the different levels, there are also links to metadata and other useful resources.

Category | This is the entry point of the API. Here you get a collection of links to different Versions of the API. |
Version | Information about the Version. Here you get a collection of links to different Specifications that the API exposes. |
Specification | Information about the Specification and collections of links to different Regions and/or Drainage Basins |
Region | Information about a Region and collections of links to different Hydrography Elements (Drainage Basin/Dam or Weir) in the Region |
Drainage Basin/Dam or Weir | Information about the Hydrography Element (Drainage Basin/Dam or Weir) and links to the different Reference Systems for which there is Data. |
Data | The actual Data. |
The end result of a query is a Zip file containing a GML file which represents the selected drainage basin.
